The need for a DAP standard
The DAP standard was created as a result of a number of influences including:
- Meeting the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
- Inclusive design
- Social inclusion
- Standardisation
- Comprehensive audit (including audit of physical environment, service and web accessibility)
A Combined Approach
The DAP standard is based on a combination of standards drawn from British Standards of Accessibility (BS8300), including Part M. We incorporate the DDA requirements into a service standard. The DAP web standard again incorporates W3C WCAG 1.0.
